Washington, DC- Latinos for a Fair Judiciary condemns today’s rushed and illegitimate Senate vote to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Today’s vote was the culmination of Republican-led court-packing strategy that began with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s blockade of Merrick Garland, President Barack Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court in 2016, and went into overdrive during the current administration. This ill-gotten vote occurred after hastily arranged hearings and insufficient time for the Senate and the American public to review the nominee’s record, and took place with less than eight days until Election Day and after 60 million Americans have already cast their ballots.
